Glen Bubolz has served as chief for 30 years, and in total has more than 50 years of service to Montello Fire Department. Glen has tirelessly given his time and talent to the citizens of the Montello Joint Fire Dist. The Department and Joint Fire district would like to thank Chief Glen on his retirement as Chief at the end of 2021.

The Ethel Everhard Memorial Library renovation is moving along! The library, in partnership with the Westfield High School AP History Students, put a time capsule in the wall to be opened at the 100th anniversary of the library, in the year 2072. The AP History Students worked on this project at the behest of the Library Board of Trustees.

The Marquette County Judicial and Public Safety committee met on February 1st, where they heard updates from the EMS Department, discussed collecting bills for Humane Officer incidents, and voted on having a county-hired Medical Examiner instead of an elected Coroner.

University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension 4-H Youth Development faculty member, Christa Van Treeck, received national recognition at the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals National Conference held in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Marquette County Property Committee met on February 1st where they heard about a large number of tax deed properties, discussed the Marquette County Historical Society’s lease, and looked at massive potential savings for the jail sallyport project.

The Coloma Lions welcome everyone to their annual Fisheree on Pleasant Lake this Saturday, February 12th. The action gets underway at 7:00 a.m. and the event runs until 3:30 p.m.

Headquarters is under a heated tent at Coloma Town Park, where you will find plenty of great food and refreshments available all day.

The Marquette County Ag & Extension Committee met on January 17th, taking a first look at a concept plan that gives an idea of how the county fairgrounds in Westfield could be transformed into a property that would be better used.
