Fish-N-Fun Festival 2022 is May 6-7-8!

The Montello Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes everyone to attend the Fish-N-Fun Festival on May 6-7-8. The fun begins on Friday, May 6th and runs through Sunday, May 8th. Food trucks, refreshments and live music will take over West Street downtown, while the carnival and other attractions will be located at City Park. Located halfway between these two locations will be the crafter, vendor, and flea market area on Park Street and Doty Street. The carnival and festival open at 4:00pm on Friday, and 10:00am on Saturday & Sunday.


Friday evening, the live band Best Practice takes the stage from 7:30-10:00pm on West Street, sponsored by Rustic Saloon, H&H Pools, and ‘Tween the Lakes Motel. 

Hammers will be swinging at the free Kids Bird House Building sponsored by the Muirland Birding Club, located at Vaughn Hall on Saturday from 10:00am till 2:00pm. Montello Historic Preservation Society will have the Vaughn Hall museum open Friday evening and Saturday. Check out the Stories of the Upper Fox River exhibit, and a display of vintage Montello advertising. MHPS will also be selling sweet treats!

The Prairie Thunder Cloggers will take the downtown West Street stage for a performance on Saturday at noon.

From 1:30pm till 3:30pm enjoy Geezer and Clyde, as they entertain with a mix of country, 50's and 60's and even a Polka or two, downtown on the West Street stage. They are sponsored by Yahooz Sports Bar & Grill.

Head on over to Sweet B’s Boutique for face painting, offered on Saturday and Sunday.

The Chamber Welcome Booth will offer a treat for Mom, with a free Mother’s Day gift on Sunday to the first 50 moms.

While you’re downtown, remember to check out all the unique shops and eateries, sidewalk sales, and specials at many of the local businesses.

As the sun begins to set on Saturday, get ready to rock with Road Trip, as they kick off their 31st year of entertaining, from 7:30-11:00pm, sponsored by Metta Homes & Transportation, and Metta Sewer & Excavating.


The River Country Bass Masters will be hosting their always popular Kid’s Casting Contest from 8am till 2pm near the crafter, vendor, flea market area at the corner of Park Street and Doty Street, between downtown and City Park. Kids can hone their casting skills and compete for some great prizes!

The Kid’s Fishing Contest returns on Saturday. Registration is required and starts at 9:00am, at City Park All legal-sized fish must be brought back by 3:00pm for measuring. This is open to all kids 15 and under. Cash prizes will be awarded in two age categories. Fish must be caught in Montello Lake, Buffalo Lake, Fox River, or Montello River.

The kids will enjoy seeing adorable animals at the Petting Zoo, Saturday 11-5 and Sunday 11-3 at City Park. Enjoy all this cuteness, sponsored by the Montello Care Center.

In addition to the carnival, music and refreshments, City Park will be hosting Kip’s Kid Show on Saturday in the pavilion, at 2:00pm. This fun and interactive kid’s show is sure to be a hit for families!

The Montello Lions Club will be offering free vision screening at City Park on Saturday.

Local musician John Giencke will be entertaining at City Park with his ukulele and guitar from 11 am till 1pm on Saturday and Sunday.

At 3:00pm, watch and learn while the Marquette County Sheriff Department K9 Unit demonstrates the many ways their skilled K9 companions assist in law enforcement.

On Sunday, the carnival and concessions continue at City Park, along with BINGO in the pavilion at 1:00pm. Try your luck for cash prizes!

New this year is a delicious Chicken BBQ dinner, served from 11:30 a.m. until it’s gone.

The Marquette County ATV Club will again be providing courtesy shuttles between West Street, Craft/Flea Market area, and City Park.


Maggie’s School of Movement is celebrating 5 years in business in Montello this year.   Get a sneak peak of the upcoming 5th annual recital as the dancers entertain you with a sampling of jazz, tap acrobatics, Irish and square dancing. The dancers will be on the downtown stage on Sunday, May 8th, at 11:30 a.m.


Start off your morning on Sunday, May 8th, with a delicious breakfast served at the American Legion Post 351 on Highway 23, at the west end of Montello. They will be serving from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.


Remember to wear your 2022 Fish-N-Fun button to participate in special sales and drawings at over 30 local businesses, and for entry into hourly drawings at the Chamber Welcome Booth on West Street. Fish-N-Fun buttons are available in advance at numerous local businesses, or at the Chamber Welcome Booth during the event. Your $5 button purchase helps support the festival and allows us to keep so many free and low-cost events for your family’s enjoyment.

Advance carnival tickets are available while they last at Fortifi Bank, Holliday Shopping Center, Kwik Trip, and National Exchange Bank. A sheet of 20 tickets is $40, which is a $20 savings from tickets purchased at the carnival. Each ride requires only 1 ticket.
