Raffle raises funds for Hogs for Heroes

American Legion Post 351 of Montello and Jeanna’s American Legion Bar recently held a raffle to benefit the Hogs for Heroes cause. Winner of the grand prize of an ice auger was Christopher Glodowski. The $1,200 proceeds from the raffle were donated to Hogs for Heroes.

Fair Youth Meat Animal Auction set for Friday, July 8th

The 25th annual Marquette County Fair Youth Meat Animal Auction will be held on Friday, July 8th at – 6:30 p.m. in the Show Barn on the Marquette County fairgrounds in Westfield.  On the auction block will be beef, sheep, swine, rabbits, and meat goats.  Youth from several youth organizations across the county will be marketing their animals – 4

Coloma to celebrate 50 years of the Chicken Chew June 24-25-26

Chicken Chew this year will be a tribute to a small village that produces a great festival.  The 50th Anniversary of Chicken Chew will be June 24, 25, and 26 with lots of activities for everyone in the family. There will be tons of activities all three days of the event.

High winds, rainfall in storm cause lots of damage in county

A rather large line of severe weather came through Marquette County in the early evening of Wednesday, June 15th, which included very strong winds and heavy rainfall.  The National Weather Service put several areas of Marquette County in a tornado warning.  The Marquette County Sheriff's Office – Public Safety Room was opened as a storm shelter

Property Committee holds emergency meeting to discuss sallyport project

The Marquette County Property Committee met on May 27th for an emergency meeting on the sallyport project and bid. Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Paul Van Treeck reported that they had opened bids for the project and the base bid came back at $2,382,016, which is $700,000 above their projections.

What’s happening on the Ice Age Trail

The Marquette County Chapter of the Ice Age Trail continues to work with the National Park Service, the Ice Age Trail Alliance and the DNR to complete the Corridor Plan and Environmental Assessment for Marquette County.  It is near completion and that means the general direction of the trail through the county has been decided upon and approved.
