9-Day Gun Deer Hunting Season opens Saturday
This 8-point buck doesn’t seem to mind the camera as he munches grass in a rural Montello yard, but he might want to be more cautious this weekend as the annual 9-day gun season for deer hunting opens this Saturday in Wisconsin. Hunters will take to the woods and fields of Marquette County as they do every year in hopes of filling their tags and filling their freezers with meat. Last year’s harvest was sharply down 23.4% from the year before, with registrations of just 3,242, almost 1,000 less than in 2018. As we all have seen while driving along local roads, the deer are very active right now, so hopes are high for a good harvest in 2020!
