Montello Independence Day Celebration

Montello will celebrate the 4th of July in grand style with a giant fireworks display at dusk on Sunday, July 3rd. The fun event takes place at Montello City Park on Doty Street. Main sponsors this year are the Montello Rotary Club, Montello Area Chamber of Commerce and numerous community supporters.

 

Oxford celebrates Independence Day with weekend of fun!

It takes three days to pack in all the fun of an Oxford Independence Day celebration! This year’s event takes place at Oxford Village Park from Thursday to Saturday, June 30th, July 1st and July 2nd.

It opens on Thursday, June 30th, at 6 pm with the start of the men’s slowpitch softball tournament.

On Friday, July 1st, the tournament continues at 6 pm, plus your kids can enjoy carnival rides and the midway. Carnival wristbands will be offered from 6-10 p.m. for $20 each.

Saturday, July 2nd, the celebration reaches its height with activities all day, leading up to a giant fireworks display at 10 p.m. The men’s slowpitch tournament continues all day long, and there will also be a volleyball tournament beginning at 9 a.m. For information on registering a team, contact Lindzay Daye at 608-697-9738. 

The carnival rides will be running all day and night also.

Kiddie Parade: Bring your bikes, your wagons or just yourself! Decorating starts at 9:00 a.m. downtown. All materials are provided for decorating your vehicle of choice, be it bike, wagon, skateboard, or scooter. Parade will start at 10:00 a.m. 

Bring the kids for the annual Junior Olympics games beginning at 11 a.m., with pre-registration (required) at 10:30 a.m. 

Everyone can enter the bag toss tournament that starts at noon. Pre-registration is at 11 a.m. (required); entry fee is $20 per team; limit of 24 teams. If you want to learn more, contact Fay Lloyd at 608-333-4583.

Following the 10 p.m. fireworks, there will be two large cash raffles. Tickets will be on sale on the grounds.

This event is sponsored by the Oxford Fire Department and Oxford Lions Club, who will be on hand all three days with food and refreshments, including the Fire Department’s famous pork sandwiches. Come enjoy the holiday with lots to do at the Oxford Village Park!

 

Harrisville has big plans for July 4th

The little town of Harrisville plans another big celebration for the 4th of July again this year!

The day will start off with their parade through Harrisville at 11 a.m., ending at the Sportsmen’s Club. There will be tractor pulls all day, also starting at 11 a.m., with weigh-ins from 8:00 to 10:30. 

After the parade, be sure to stop by the Sportsmen’s Club for a delicious BBQ chicken dinner. Serving will be from 12 noon until gone.

Then end the day with fireworks over Harris Pond, starting at dusk. The celebration is sponsored by the Harrisville Sportsmen’s Club.

Community of Saints Parish will be sponsoring a float in the July 4th Harrisville parade and will also be giving out free root beer floats and ice-cold water immediately prior to the fireworks that same evening.

The Community of Saints Parish is comprised of the congregations of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Harrisville, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Richford.

Financial assistance was provided by Thrivent Financial and Kwik Trip.  Donations received during the root beer floats will be given to the residents of the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home at King.
