Chicken Chew this year will be a tribute to a small village that produces a great festival. The 50th Anniversary of Chicken Chew will be June 24, 25, and 26 with lots of activities for everyone in the family. There will be tons of activities all three days of the event. A carnival is coming for all 3 days and wristbands will be available each day.
For the last five years, the Coloma Fire Department and the Coloma Lions have joined forces to put on the 3-day festival. Things from the past are coming back including a historic car rally and the chicken drop.
On Friday night, Road Trip plays from 8–11 pm and Prince of Peace serves its famous Fish Fry (Bake) from 4:30–7 pm.
On Saturday there is a pork dinner starting at 4 pm, and the Blooze Brothers will entertain 8–11 pm. Fireworks at dusk will interrupt the show. Many more activities take place, including a pancake breakfast Rodz & Ratz Revival Car Show, car swap meet, craft & flea market, quilt show, village-wide garage sales, volleyball and bags tournaments, firemen’s water fights, a road rally, tractor pulls for kids and adults, library book sale, Historical Society Museum exhibits, and more! Kids’ games will be featured both Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday is the parade, and the famous 1200 chicken dinners will be served, both beginning at 11 a.m. There’s also a classic car show, craft & flea market, quilt show, more garage sales around town, bingo, museum displays highlighting the Chicken Chew’s 50 year history, raffle drawings and more.
Lots of things can be pre-purchased: Ride wristbands, dinner tickets, and raffle tickets. Ask a Lions Club or Fire Department members or stop in at the Coloma Hotel to pre-purchase. For questions, call Sue at 715-228-2622.
