Marquette County quilter Cindy Wilson’s work is featured at the Portage Center of the Arts at Tivoli through September 30.  The show is co-hosted by Portage Center for the Arts and Divine Savior Healthcare and is located in the Tivoli community building at 2805 Hunters Trail in Portage, behind Divine Savior Hospital.

Wilson has been quilting since 1988 and lives with husband David just south of Montello where they own and operate Devon Orchards.  She’s worked in the Divine Savior laboratory for 30 years as a Medical Technologist.

Quilting is a big part of her life and she’s sold quilts around the world including to people in Africa, Canada, Germany, Italy and the Philippines.  The quilter has shared her quilts and quilting skills with numerous quilt guilds, at quilt shows and with other quilting organizations.  An original Wilson pattern title Christmas Wreathe was published in Quiltmaker magazine as a mystery quilt and is still available through that publication.  A quilting blogger on Quilting Club of America posted comments about using Wilson’s quilt pattern and said, “This quilt was my very first mystery project.  I have made this quilt three times and presented it as a group project in September 2002.  The first quilt was made for my Mom and appeared in Sew to Speak Quiltmaker November/December 2004 issue.  The second was made in December 2001 as a gift for my friend Charmagne.  Charmagne chose to frame the quilt rather than have it quilted.  The third time was a fundraiser at my work offered during the 2002 Holiday Faire to support Make-A-Wish.”

The Marquette County quilter’s creations continue to give gifts of stitchery and fabric, handmade wonders that light up people’s lives.  You can see her work through September 30 at the Quilts of Cindy Wilson exhibit sponsored by the Portage Center of the Arts with Divine Savior Healthcare at Tivoli, 2805 Hunters Trail, Portage.   Call 608-745-5900 for more information or email portagecenterforthearts@frontier.com.
