Chapman, Radzikinas Elected as County Fairests
Recently two local women, 18 years of age or older, competed to be the 2013 Marquette County Fairest of the Fair. Katie Chapman and Danielle Baker had to prepare for an interview, make up a 30 second radio broadcast promoting the fair, and answer and impromptu question all in front of a panel of three judges.
On behalf of the Marquette County Fair, the committee thanked Harlan Baumgartner of Rio, Mary Cupery of Portage, and Diane Harbort of Sun Prairie for volunteering their time to elect the new ambassadors of the fair. This year’s interview portion took place at the Pioneer Motor Inn, in Westfield. After this portion was completed, the competition moved to the fairgrounds where the contestants presented their radio broadcast and answered their question in front of the volunteers of the fair.
Along with the Fairest competition, there was also a Jr. Fairest competition. These contestants were between the ages of 10 and 13 and had to participate in an interview and answer an impromptu question in front of the fair volunteers. Lily Radzikinas and Olivia Schroeder were our contestants this year for the Jr. Fairest of the Fair position. At the end of the night it was announced that this year’s 2013 Marquette County Fairest of the Fair is Katie Chapman. The 2013 Jr. Fairest of the Fair was announced as Lily Radzikinas.
All of the contestants did an excellent job. It is the Fairest’s and Jr. Fairest’s duty to represent and promote the Marquette County Fair. Please join our Fairests at this year’s Marquette County Fair, July 10-14 in Westfield. For more info on the fair please visit their website at www.marquettecountyfairwi.org. See you at the fair!
