Donation Given to Food Bank
A fundraiser at Larry’s Chicken Inn in Endeavor resulted in a generous $500 donation to the Marquette County Care & Share Food Bank. Bringing their bright colors to a cold winter day were Sylvia Phillis, representing the food bank, with Larry’s Chicken Inn owner Larry Rataczak. A pamphlet for the food bank reports 663 families were served commodity/food boxes last year (1,595 unduplicatedd people), which is an increase of 12% over 2008.
Primary narrows candidate fields for April
The Montello School District had the busiest ballot at the spring primary election on Tuesday. Voters could select up to 3 candidates to narrow the field of 7 down to 6 in time for the spring election on April 6th. Results were as follows, with the top 6 moving on to April: Dick Dufour 311, Kyle Hunter 278, John Spalding 274, Maureen Krivanek 271, Alvin Chmielewski 248, Andy Zellmer 237, Dennis Schrimpf 214. Hunter, Krivanek and Zellmer are incumbents; Schrimpf is a former board member.
In the Westfield School District, voters narrowed a field of 3 candidates down to 2 for the seat representing the Village and Township of Westfield. Brian Janke received the most votes with 233, while incumbent Robert Duley was second with 161 and challenger Mara Meronek got 141 votes.
For the Town of Packwaukee, a field of 5 candidates was narrowed to 4 for two Town Board seats that will be decided in April. Results were: Vicki Trimble 166, Paul Sanders 108, Don Hall 74, Doug Slama 67, and Tom Bowman 65. Hall and Bowman are the incumbents.
In County Supervisor District 11 (Town of Packwaukee), a field of 3 candidates was narrowed to 2 with the following results: Dan Klawitter 80, Neal Johnson 72 and Ed Hockerman 42. Johnson is the incumbent.
For Court of Appeal Judge in District 4, Marquette County’s share of the votes was as follows: Brian Blanchard 539, Ramona Gonzalez 345, and Edward Leineweber 211.
