Revenues down for Salvation Army Bell Ringing

The first three weeks of The Salvation Army of Marquette County Red Kettle Campaign saw a 20% decrease in the number of hours volunteers spent ringing a bell at red kettle locations as compared to the 2011 campaign.  The result, of course, was a smaller number of contributions made to this Christmas season fund raiser.

Red Kettle Coordinator Judi Pugh is encouraging everyone who has thought about bell ringing but not made the call to contact her.  She especially needs individuals who can ring on Fridays in Westfield at the SuperValu or Folstrom’s Marathon station.  With four weeks to go, she also has many open slots in Montello, Oxford, Neshkoro and Endeavor.  Call Judi at 608-369-1073 or 920-293-8185 to sign up for bell ringing, or e-mail at rjpugh@centurytel.net.   Time spent ringing bells brings in money to help The Salvation Army serve individuals and families with emergency needs.

Filling the bell ringing slots is especially important the weekend of December 7-9.  Contributions received that weekend will be supplemented by the Marquette County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.  That supplement of $1,600 will help many families with vouchers for heat and rent this winter and into 2013. .  Last year’s Thrivent donation added to the other red kettle funds made a difference in the lives of 231 Marquette County residents.

Contribution can be made by check to Marquette County Salvation Army.  These can be put into red kettles or mailed c/o Judi and Ron Pugh, W2155 Eagle Court, Neshkoro, WI  54960.   If you’d like to designate your contribution for the December 7-9 weekend that the Marquette County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans supplements the money raised, write Thrivent on the check.  All contributions by check are acknowledged with a tax-deductible receipt.
